In a surprising turn of events, Deerfield High School’s Wi-Fi went down last week for nearly 48 hours due to a cyberattack traced back to our perennial rival… Highland Park! The hacker’s motives? Sabotaging our football team. According to investigators, the cyber attack was a deliberate attempt to derail Deerfield’s preparations before the big rivalry game. By disrupting access to online playbooks and communication tools, the hacker hoped to throw off our team’s strategy and coordination. Tensions between the two schools have escalated, and the sabotage is being treated as a serious offense.

But the hacker didn’t stop there. Highland Park’s digital saboteur tried to block students from printing assignments, nearly rendering star left guard Ethan Brooks academically ineligible for the game. The target? Brooks’ essay on E.B. White’s Charlotte’s Web—a bold and evil attempt to cut down our team from within. Fortunately, Deerfield’s IT department swooped in to save the day just in time.

After the Wi-Fi was restored, the ‘HP Hacker’ made a desperate last-ditch effort. Hacking from a Tesla Cybertruck in the parking lot, the culprit infiltrated Coach Zima’s headset and blasted ‘Hot To Go’ by Chappell Roan on repeat. Confused, players mistook Coach Zima’s impromptu dance moves for actual play calls. Offensive tackle Alex Wiley was so thrown off he commited a false start penalty. Still, despite these wild shenanigans, Deerfield crushed Highland Park 21-0.

After combing through the evidence, our crack team of investigators has narrowed the suspects to three:

First up, Highland Park Stage Crew mastermind Josh DuBrow. Spotted slinking away after Deerfield’s third touchdown, DuBrow has a history of tampering with tech. He was banned from the summer production of Les Misérables after suspicious activity involving DHS audio equipment.

Next, we have Ethan Chodoroff, former DHS band member and Highland Park transfer. Witnesses say Chodoroff, donning an unmistakable blue outfit, was seen sneaking into the Deerfield student section. His old trombone section is certain he’s the hacker.

Finally, the prime suspect: the Highland Park and Highwood Moms Facebook Group. Known for their stealthy coordination of school pranks, the group may have orchestrated the whole attack. Cryptic posts like “taking down Deerfield spirit” were circulating in the days before the game. Many believe the moms wanted to spare their sons the humiliation of losing.

Despite these sabotage attempts, Deerfield proved once again that Highland Park is no match for our football team!
